General questions

What kind of events does The Circle organise?

From Studio Visits and Collection Visits to Masterclasses and Salons, we take you into every corner of the art world. Discover our upcoming events here and read more about The Circle and the types of events we organise here.

Who is The Circle for?

Anyone with an interest in art, collecting and the art world is welcome, regardless of experience, age, budget or background.

What sets The Circle apart from other art platforms?

We are not just here to help you discover art, but also to support you in your collecting journey. We take you behind the scenes to speak with collectors, artists, galleries and auction houses so that you’re not just looking at art, you’re effectively learning to understand it and perhaps even acquire it. The Circle is a non-profit initiative and part of The Collectors Circle, thé platform for art lovers who not only want to enrich their own lives but also are an active part of the art world.

Do I need to be collecting already to become a member?

No, not at all. We help you explore how to build a collection, what kind of art suits you and what to look out for. Collecting is not a requirement, some members will join us to gain a better understanding of the art world.

Which language is used most commonly?

Most events are in Dutch. When international members or speakers join the event, we will switch to English. Each event listing will show you which language will be used.

Are the events suitable for beginners?

Yes. Whether you are just starting out or already built a collection, we offer programmes for every level. For more experienced members, there are in-depth formats such as Salons, Studio Visits, Fair Visits and private collection visits.

What is the difference between The Circle, Circle+ and the Ambassadors Circle

We offer insight into the art world for all types of art lovers: from art enthusiasts to seasoned collectors. Find the circle that suits you best.

Am I expected to buy something during a Studio Visit, Fair Visit or Gallery Tour?

No, certainly not. A Studio Visit is meant to offer a relaxed introduction to an artist’s working process. Fair Visits and Gallery Tours focus on looking and developing your taste. You should never feel obliged to make a purchase. But if you fall in love with an artwork, or with the story behind it, you are of course welcome to acquire it.

Are events only organised in the Netherlands and Belgium?

No. We also organise online events and trips to international art fairs and various art destinations such as London, Paris and Venice. Please note that our travel programme comes with additional costs. You can find more information here.
